Please, tell me how the folks of LA could secede and make ANY of that money? Most of that revenue going to the feds is from lease sales and royalty taxing...much of it offshore. Now, if the state secedes, do you wanna bet what place can no longer be drilled? 2 guesses, go ahead...

Yup, that's right. Lose the leased land, lose the oil, lose the income. They would *basically* be bringing the same that they're bring in now...what's drilled from PRIVATE and STATE owned land. That's what they get the revenue for IN LA now.


I won't even go into the fact that the total mineral revenue for the state of LA has DROPPED almost systematically every year since FY1979, and is now about 1/3 of what it was in those glory days of 1982. Yeah, that's a good way to fund the next "Abu Dhabi"
