A piece of string walks into a bar and orders a beer. the bartender refuses to serve him and tells him to leave, because he's a piece of string.

He sits outside for a moment and comes up with an idea. He sees a young lady walking by and asks her to do him a favor.
"Please pick me up and tie a big knot in one end of me" and she does.
he then asks her to fray out the fibers on the short end past the knot until it is all frizzed out.
She does.

He thanks her and bounces back into the bar and up onto a barstool and yells with attitude, "yo barkeep. Beer me".
The bartender says in a gruff voice, "aren't you that same piece of string I just kicked out of here?"

The piece of string laughs and says, "I'm a frayed knot!"
