In the bible there are references to a beast who appears from nowhere, is a great speaker and people love him, promises peace but it a deceiver. He starts out making peace with all nations then after a while become so powerful that no nation can make war with him. Not sure if that's from revelations or Daniel, they tell a similar story.

Right or wrong, lots of folks draw a parallel to that description of the anti-Christ and Barack hussein obama.
