The holy trinity - timing, mixture & idle

I'm tuning my car (1977 Carrera 3.0/CIS) back to where it should be now that I've just adjusted the valves properly (so much quieter!). My question is - of the holy trinity of timing, mixture and idle - what do I set first?

I'm assuming the order is as follows:

1) Set Timing
2) Set Mixture
3) Set Idle

Or should I set mixture first? At any rate I would think that the idle would be the last thing to set. Advice please!

Thanks in advance!
