Then I discovered this inside an intake port of one head...these were rebuilt at a local high performance machine shop last year and I never looked that closely at all of them when I got them back, just put them in a plastic tub until now. Must have happened when they installed the guide and they never said anything to me. My mistake for not examining everything carefully when I picked them up.



Anyone have a spare '78 or '79 big port head they want to sell?

Hmm, my first call would be to the shop that did this to your head, perhaps they have a replacement with the correct date code. My second call would be to Tom Butler aka Tom1394Racing, he is an amateur rebuilder like us with a ton of used heads.
