I've written to Arnold, both my state legislators, and my state senator about the issue this morning.
It's easy to do and I encourage everyone to do it no matter what the opinion or issue.
Quote:
Dear sir:
I am absolutely opposed to any increase in sales tax, temporary or permanent. We need fiscal responsibility, not more taxes.
The last time we voted for an increase in sales tax it was supposed to go for rebuilding our roads and highways but ended up in the general fund, where it is squandered like the paycheck of a drunk sailor. Yes, we noticed and we are not happy about it.
We need to say no to new taxes, no to irresposible spending, no to automatic increases in entitlements and education.
Well over 1/4 of the children enrolled in public schools in my area are not fluent in english. Throwing money at that problem will not solve it, and raising my taxes will not solve it either.
Please say no to wasteful spending. Please say no to increases in entitlements, and please SAY NO TO MORE TAXES!
Thank you.

If this proposal passes, the democrats will take all that money that's supposed to go to the special reserve fund (estimated to be $15 billion after 3 years) and blow it. Yes, 1% of the sales tax in California is $5 billion a year. They're already getting around 8% a year depending on where you live, that's $40 billion in sales tax they are blowing already. That's more tax revenue that many states get in all taxes. And it's still not enough.
There will be little or nothing left and we'll be stuck with the bill, again.
They'll find some excuse to spend it, I wonder if anyone of them actually have ever tried to balance a checkbook before or do they all just live off of credit cards?
