Anybody do thier own Radon mitigation?
I'm buying a home with a slightly high radon level (6pCi/L). It has a crawl space that has seen some moisture. I had the home inspected, and the inspector said that radon mitigation would be pretty simple: Put down plastic sheeting over the crawl space dirt, and vent using a fan and some PVC pipe.
Looking on line, I see a few how-to articles that involve cutting a hole in the concrete floor. Is this just for basements without a crawl space? And why do they always vent out the attic? Wouldn't venting sideways out be a lot easier?
I can have this done for $1000. But, hey, thats a set of race tires!
Any thoughts from those who have gone before me?
