After many happy months of wireless TiVo (series 2), I installed a new AT&T 2WIRE 2701HG-B modem/router which will not work with Linksys TiVo adapter (which worked great with previous modem and router). All kids’s laptops and iPhone hook up to the router fine. AT&T has been absolutely no help at all – a hundred times more frustrating than helpful, such as the technician that did not know what a DVR is and promised to call back the next day. Yea, right.
The TiVo recognizes the modem but will not connect.

I’ve tried everything from TiVo Help Forums and other internet research, including all suggestions on these threads many times – rebooting, hex screen entry of password, etc. One person said he/she let the TiVo choose the IP address. I never saw this option on my TiVo. Others have resolved the problem in a few different ways, but none of these work for me.

No luck. Would another adapter work?

I’ve got many, many hours on this and am very frustrated. Any help will be appreciated.

Mike
If the TiVo is being plugged direct into the port on the modem/router/switch, the TiVo is direct-connected, and should not require any passwords. Passwords for users on a router are usually only for wireless connections. I seem to recall when running guided set-up on my TiVo (with a direct connection, I never got to the screen about passwords, as the TiVo automatically knew my hard-wired connection was just fine.
