Amen. It really amazes how much of a difference there is between similar trucks with gas vs diesel engines. A guy I know had an older dodge ram with a 360, then sold it and bought an identical truck (color and everything) with a 5.9 cummins. The thing is a brute, bags of torque right from idle. It tows effortlessly, whereas with the v8 you felt like you were always wringing its neck.
Even my Suzuki Samurai, which isn't a truck so much as a large ATV, is a completely different animal with the turbodiesel swap. In 4wd Low, I can move a 4000 lb trailer around the yard with ease. That's only a VW 1.6TD; it's nutty.
