Kids love it
Now that I figured out how to get both car seats into the '77 S, it's my summer daily driver. Every time the kids (4 and 2) learn that they're going with me, they ask 'are we driving the Porsche?' And of the people who comment at all about the car, most of them bring up the kiddie seats.
As for the original question, my goal is to go newer. I'm not worried about reliability or safety, but I'd really like to get into something easier to drive (power steering, AC, smoother shifter, etc.) so it can be the 'family fun car' not just my fun car. Before giving me too much of a bad time for going soft, note that there just about isn't a decent driving road within 2 hours drive here in southeast Michigan and I have something else for the track.
