My wife and I have had the iPhone 3G practically since it's launch here in Australia (had to wait a few days for the 16Gb versions as they sold out quick).
Works really well, I can connect to my work Exchange server to get push email, calendar and contacts.
I can use it as a proxy "modem" by using an App called "Netshare" - cost me US$12.99 - I think Apple has taken this app down from iTunes, but it may be back by now, but it works very well and very useful when I am travelling for work - I tether my iPhone to my Macbook.
I've used Psions, Palms. Treos and Windows Mobile smartphones, but the iPhone, for me, has been the best phone I've ever had.
