From what I understand there is no easy engine substitution. Save your money. Go the rebuild route or find another 924 engine to drop in.
If you want a 924, with it's quirks and limitations then keep it original. If you try to make it something its' not you will spend a lot of money and achieve only limited success.
In original configuration it may someday be worth more money as there are not a lot of these babies around and the numbers are declining.....
