USA, ROW and Canada
I was reading over Wayne's engine rebuilding book and after browsing through some of the appendices a bit of an odd thing came to mind. What I noticed while looking at the engine types and data page was that they were identified as USA or ROW. This will come as no surprise to any here. The interesting part is that Canada is specifically grouped with the ROW engines on many of them. A few times they are not specifically identified and a lower number are identified with the US models.
It is interesting to note that the earlier models don't mention Canada at all. Not until the eighties does Canada rate a specific note. Sometimes Japan is listed with the US but Canada is not.
I know that sometimes manufacturers make cars for Canada a little bit different than the US. Sometimes we get stuff that the buyers in the US don't, and vice versa. Usually, though, they are almost identical.
While we are very close neighbors and friends, and many expect that we are all pretty much the same, did Porsche make the hearts of our cars different? Can one assume that many of the Canadian cars have the higher compression and power of the ROW cars? Are they all like this except for the specifically listed late turbos?
