One of their most common tricks is to examine only a tiny portion of a progressive data series, and that is what they do here. I don't know if the proponents in this thread actually fall for this garbage or if they simply enjoy trying to pull one over on others.

THis graph is instructive. Note the progressive loss of ice. Of course, there is some variation in the year to year data - common in all complex natural systems. But it is a mistake to pull out a single year and broadcast that as if it were unduly significant.
In this case, it is not merely a mistake -- it is simple dishonesty, brought to you by the usual politico-liars and cheats.
Above someone noted that ice had recovered back to 2002 and 2005 levels in 2008 - now look at the data and you can see how much of a "recovery" that was.
