Early in McCain's political career it became clear that he would not toe the party line, even under tremendous pressure. Some party leaders tried to isolate him, jeopardizing his political career. McCain just dug his heels in. I'm not sure if McCains stubborn streak is a good thing or not. One thing's certain; it's hard to scare a man who spent 5 years in a prison camp.
