That's not what I watched. I would agree that for a time McCain was ruggedly, doggedly, independent. Then came the immense pressure. And the rumor of his black 'love child.' And then John McCain caved. Since that day, his 'platform' has been difficult to pin down because of the many policy shifts. He had his chance. And blew it. If this campaign begins to focus on waffle-behavior, McCain will be crucified.
