He didn't even have that option.
Without hydraulic pressure (both engines out) he had :
No Flaps
No Slats
No BRAKES!
And as looney said, no reversers.
So he touched down at about 200 knots (about 230 mph), instead of about 140 knots and rolled forever. Tires aren't designed for that.
No chance of fire, though. No fuel.
