I have been there. It is a nice area in eastern France on the German border. To me, it seemed more like Germany than France. Many spoke German. The border has reported moved many times over the centuries. The people seemed much nicer than those in Paris...not such snobs...and the food was much better. Rural, with lots of interesting castles and vineyards.
