Steve, that's what I hope for as well. The Islamic family across the street from me has a teenage daughter that dresses and acts like any American teen. Their teenage son annoys me with his pimped out Sunfire, complete with fart can and subwoofers. Despite the "Praise Allah" sticker on the back of their van, they're more or less like any other American family. Now if they'd just paint their house and mow their damn yard. 
Compared to Sharia Islam, maybe American Islam is Islam-Lite?
