cheap rebuild?

I like the idea of a high compression 3.0L but I am also having this delimna. I know a 2.2T engine is not very powerful but I can live with this since I do not race or autocross. I have noticed that 2.2T parts are easily found on ebay for pretty cheap and I was wondering if it is still a better idea to build the 3.0L engine or would the stock 2.2T motor be alot cheaper to rebuild? I was thinking that I would first have to invest money in a 3.0L core engine and I suppose a new transmission too just to get started. The only change I would make to the 2.2T engine would be a set of E cams. I just know that HP is usually expensive and the while you're in there itis may be too great a temptation to build the 3.0L engine for me. I was also wondering that since the 2.2T engine has limited power, would it be possible to use some aftermarket parts like clutches and still have reliabilaty? any thoughts?
