I agree 100%. Dorrell was a heck of a player, and was and is a heck of person and Bruin.
He wasn't cut out to be a high D1 head coach, though. Maybe if he starts at a lower level somewhere as a head coach, and legitimately proves himself and works his way up, he could possibly be in the future.
I think the UC schools have a lot of internal conflict over their sports programs, I know at Cal a lot of the admin and staff aren't really on board with having big national sports teams, with multi-million dollar coaches, multimillion dollar sports facilities, etc. I think there is the same conflict at UCLA.
Other schools, like USC or LSU, need the programs for advertising.
