Why do the Dems feel they "own" certain groups? Because they go out of their way to redistribute wealth, to provided unearned benefits, or extend special protections to these groups, and feel like they are "owed" their votes in return.

They are attacking Palin so vehemently because they feel betrayed. In the Democratic mind, Roe v. Wade was payment for every woman's vote, forever. Anyone who doesn't believe this must be silenced, lest they spoil the rest of the "group" (women voters).
