They're just the established player - the "Microsoft" of the online auction world to use an analogy. Big, entrenched but hopelessly stodgy and unable to get out of their own way.
Sooner or later a "Google" is going to come onto the scene and do all the right things, addressing (and fixing) everything the public-at-large can't stand about "Microsoft". They will enjoy wild popularity and a surge to prominence that will eventually rival the old giant.
Sounds like a good business model for someone here who's enterprising...
Frankly I'm surprised it's taken this long.
