Yes, they were ranked #1. Until their starting QB broke his hand and wouldn't leave the game and threw three interceptions. Until they lost 3 out of the starting 5 offensive linemen to injury. Until they put Mark Sanchez in to play when he wasn't ready.
During that time they simply weren't very good. At the end of the season they were closer to being healthy and I believe at the end they could have beaten any college team in the country. Unfortunately that will have to remain just my opinion.
I think that the USC defense has no match and the offense is much better than I expected. If they remain healthy I don't believe anyone will stop them.
Notice that I said that is what I think, an opinion. I did not state it as fact. that's important. Stating opinion as fact isn't cool, it's closer to bar room bragging and just ends up in internet fighting.
I will watch the games this season and enjoy them and we'll just have to see how it turns out.
Oh, and if we want to keep bringing up how easy or difficult a team's schedule is, LSU's non-conference schedule this year has been called by ESPN sportswriters "the easiest non-conference schedule in div. 1". Good luck with North Texas, Troy and Tulane. Do they even have helmets? Hillbilly state was a real powerhouse too.
maybe we don't want to go there.
Besides, the schedule doesn't really matter in the end (unless a team with two losses gets invited to the BCS championship game which was BS in my opinion) , it's who wins the big games.
