By 'stab someone in the back', do you mean he will expose the flaws in their work or just be underhanded in his dealings with them?
If it is the former, send him to charm school and take advantage of his good points. If the latter, get him out of there.

These are the same thoughts I have. We have a similar guy here who is a techincal genius, but lacks social skills. We just ignore the social part because of his other talents. On the other hand he is not a back stabber.
