My money's on Ralph Lauren as the buyer.
That said, I wonder how much it would cost to outfit a small factory capable of producing an equivalent 50 year old Ferrari replica. I'm guessing for less than $30M you could crank out 250s faster than Chuck Beck. Then you could at least drive the piss out of them.
I understand the appeal of the original as an investment and/or work of art, blah blah... I can actually fathom someone spending $10M or so on some Ferrari art. But $30M I just can't get my mind around.
Consider that the new VW factory (which is outrageously overbuilt) cost only $200M 5 years ago. I guess I would just spend my $30M a little differently.
