I was in a car wreck when I was 17, I ended up settling about 3 months later with what I felt was a fair settlement for my time off work etc. Unfortunately it took a while longer than three months for my neck problems (broke the windshield with my head) to really surface. As the person who was injured you are not in any real rush to settle and I would strongly urge you to take your time and make sure that everything is okay. I am saying this as someone who has worked in the insurance industry for a while and wish I knew then what I know now. Keep in mind I am not saying take someone to the cleaners but I am saying to make sure that you don't screw yourself by accident.
