Shadow? From the Sun? Because the light from the Sun is millions of times brighter than the light from the Moon. Technically, the Moon was casting a shadow too, but you couldn't see it since it was drowned out from the ambient light of the Sun.
Stand in a room with a 100 watt floodlight shining on one side of you, and a candle on the other side. Does the candle cast a discernible shadow?
