Soccer (football) is much more exciting than American football. Continual play, no time outs save for injury or penalty kicks, etc.
With American football, it's hike, scramble, hand off or throw, catch tackle, then reset for 20-30 seconds and repeat.
At least in the CFL, you guys have a moving offensive line. It mildly mitigates the hurry-up-and wait tedium.
