On the side of the University, the trees in that grove are maybe only 80 years old. They are nice oak trees. I like trees a lot, also. But the University is going to plant THREE trees for every one they cut down, and in 80 years, Berkeley still will be flush with trees. These were 80 year old - new growth Redwoods, not Oaks. They are activists in training and very misguided.
BTW, I feel the University has the right to remove the trees and build what they want.
