I recently replaced the distributor cap and rotor. Car runs much better now (using Bosch and Porsche brand Cap and Rotor).
=)
Anyway, I had fits getting that rotor on. The friction fit is 'very' good, but the set screw that holds the rotor to the sleeve was stripped, and I had to re-use it, so I had to use vice grips/needle nose pliers to put it in, it didn't seem perfectly lined up (but thread none the less). It's in maybe 75% of the way down, and 'tight' as I can get it... ugh, what a mess.
ANYWAY, if the screw comes out and the rotor some how comes off, what's the worst that could happen?
Thinking about it, I should have kept my old cap... I have a junkyard rotor and sleeve/hub (with a stripped screw, but rotor is in fair shape), and an 8mm wrench in the car, in case the rotor comes apart. Would it take the cap with it?
*edit*
The screw would hopefully fall pretty quickly and stay down... and the rotor just wouldn't spin with the sleeve/hub, it shouldn't fly apart and damage things, right?
