Can't help you on price, but I also have a '97 and haven't experienced any motor related problems. My car does have low miles, roughly 35k, and the only problems have been the seat belt /air bag light 2x, failed ignition switch x2, and recently I shortened the convertible top drive cable housings. All of these issues have been covered on the various Boxster forums w/ DIY solutions.
The car you've posted looks very nice and the color is not as common as mine which is arctic silver.
As for the lack of full service records, it's probable that with the low millage that the car simply wasn't serviced, and you should expect to bring things up to date. You will also hear from most, including myself that you should have a pre-purchase inspection (PPI) done by someone who is familiar with Boxsters and knows what to look for.
