Rather unusual, I might add... with a short exhaust while pushing the envelope, yes... but with an exhaust that long while stationary?
Sounds like a lot of unburned fuel and very late ignition... do you notice rough running?
I installed per instructions and didn't really think about it... worked and still woks just flawless for me...
