I had one (76) for several years. Had almost 300k miles on it when I sold it. Mine had a 3.3. Stock was 3.0. Five speed is good, most were 4 speeds.

I think it's the best looking 5 series until recently. Much, much nicer than the boring one that followed it.

Look for rust in front of the rear wheels. Never seen one that was rust-free there. That one probably is, though.

The rear-end is famously squirrely on them, but the lsd should help. Stiffer front bar helps a bit, too.

I have no idea how to value it. Think it depends on the buyer... could vary a lot. For instance, some would pay more for a car w/ that sound system. Me? I think it's a waste. That smooth, smooth straight six sounds wonderful.

Flat black????? What's up with that?

BTW, a car mag (european car???) did basically the same thing with an E12 while I had mine a number of years ago. They did performance, slalom, braking and skidpad before and after.

After they spent thousands and thousands on it, at the end, they said that "it's still an E12, not that much improvement". Said an E28 M5 would be a much better choice.

Lot of $$ for that car... IMO
