B7 Alpina BMW vs '85 928S2....
I generally don't go around drag racing people...but today, ladies and gentlemen...I had my HAT handed to me by the owner of something known as a "B7 Alpina" 7-series BMW.
THAT thing got up and left town! I was behind him at a light, and when it changed we both turned left. He immediately got in the right turn lane...
-exactly where I wanted to be-
and I'm like "would the Captain of the BISMARCK please get his battleship in gear!?". I was spring-loaded to smoke the Munich boat, since he was going way slower than the average person would. The whole time I'm staring at the "B7" on the back of the car. I figured "Yeah, nice....you can read European Car magazine, and order some numerals". I can read European Car too, but I've got a V8 that probably puts out something in the middle 300's horsepower wise, and the car is the size of a Honda Civic. The average 7 is just a road-block for my 928~
Well, we rolled through the curved entrance to US1 and I of course, got on it. It took the boat captain about a second or so to respond, but when he did holy ben-wa balls Batman! That monster got up and showed me its tail-lights! I have a problem with a high rpm/high manifold-pressure miss, and I was in that mode...but even if I hadn't been I suspect that big car would have walked away from my 928S2. My car is an "ROW" or gray market import, and it is probably just as fast as a 928GT or GTS. It turned a 13.86 @ 106 mph in a quarter mile up at the drag strip near Orlando one day...
I don't know much about Alpina BMW's but I won't mess with them in the future! I wanted to stop and talk to the guy, he pulled into a shopping center about half a mile after we turned, but I had an appointment and didn't have the time.
Hot car!
