boone und crockett 420 bull nailed-az
well kiddys , a really really patient archer extrodinaire nailed a beautiful 6 x 6 bull elk this weekend outside ashfork az. on saturday.
unreal rack on this guy. saw the rack at the williams, az. "beer/booze/bait/bullets/processor/taxidermy shoppee"(my fave) . got our blood running big time.
had a great scout w/amigo and younger kid. showed both many miles of happy hunting grounds and really pounded some rocks exploring avenues of ingress/egress for our hunt area. took kids new 480 honda and he had a blast buzzing roads getting to know directions.
stopped off at kaibab lake and drowned some z-rays with no luck. kid nailed a monster small mouth bass at least 6" long! SCAREY BIG! damn near broke his arms reeling it in!
man the weather was beautiful 77 high 44 low w/some rain to keep the dust down.
since we aint stupid and been doing this hunt thang forever, going up scouting during archery only hunts gives you lots of insight on our hunt. archery guys camp only in areas where bulls roam. ha ha we gps'ed their camp sites, we also noticed where they were hunting and where they were not hunting.......ha ha another clue!
since i have 2 bows and have played the arrow game unsuccessfully on deer and javelina i really have to give credit where due on these freak-a-zoids of the hunting world. 40yds max distance.........to nail the hell and DROP an 800+ pound madder than hell/hornier than hell/ elk! no sidearms allowed.
water was everywhere so seeing tanks with blinds and tree stands gave us really good clues on where elk are hanging these days. everythang changes come snowfall time. our ingress/egress, where elk are hanging out for feeding, all help making good hopefully quality elk yield decisions come late november for us.
