Our charity, the
National Down Syndrome Congress, has gotten a "thumbs up" from those in the know. Their mission is to, "Empower people with Down syndrome by creating a national climate in which all people will recognize and embrace the value and dignity of people with Down syndrome."
I haven't approached them yet with the details of this project but will be doing so in the coming week. Questions needing answers include the tax issues surrounding the project, specifically whether or not it is necessary to drive any such activity through the organization in order to claim it, and what type of involvement the charity would like. I for one am not doing this for tax purposes, but do understand that some people/corporations might need that extra motivation in order to contribute to their utmost ability. Still looking for suggestions on the right car for our purposes. It needs to be something affordable up front but able to sell for $25k-$30 when finished. I'm not sure a 1970 911 would fit this bill but noticed several for sale around the internet including
one in our very own classifieds selling for $1200.
Also need thoughts on the best way to sell the car once complete, whether it be Barrett-Jackson or another auction house or even some sort of controlled-ticket raffle. This might be the end of this thread as I think one surrounding the organizational aspect of the project is in order.
