1. There is no performance upgrade that I am aware of>
2. If I could afford it, I would have it. Thus, if you can, you should get it.
I do not have one, had considered one, but after installing the pop-off valve on mine, I have never had any issues.
What year is your SC? Mine is an '83, and I believe that '83 is less prone to hiccups.
