You didn't say if that's offensive or defensive tackle. On offense, make sure you know your assignments, have a good stance (you'd be amazed at how much a bad stance gives away the play), listen for audibles, and DON'T FORGET THE SNAP COUNT!! On defense, make sure you know your responsibilities (outside contain, etc..), any stunts, and the down and distance. I played for 3 seasons in HS and 4 in college with the same crappy 1/2 T-shirt (it was lucky). By the time I was done with it, it was a church shirt (it was Holy). At least I washed it, unlike some of my teammates.
Worry less about your gear, and make sure you know what you're doing out there. The gear won't make you faster, smarter or play better.
