Latest Supertec magic

The engine posted here is a 4 liter normally aspirated project for a SoCal dune buggy .
The engine spec are 76.4 mm stroke and 105 mm bore or 3970cc. The base engine was a 964 3.6. The crank is a GT3 race crank. It has been cross drill for improved rod bearing oiling. The oil pump is also GT3. Case has been shuffle pinned and Supertec head studs were installed. All bearings are Dow dry film moly coated. The pistons and cylinders are custom made for us by Charles @ LN Engineering 11:1 compression ratio www.lnengineering.com . These are really nice pieces. The rods are generation one (127.8mm) GT3 Titanium Pankls. We change the rod bolts to ARP to ensure long life of the engine. The heads were Supertec VentiPort 38/40, twin plug 964 based. Berillium intake seats were added to accomodate the Del West titanium valves and Supertec valve springs and Aasco titanium retainers were fitted. The cams are from John Dougherty DC 40 w 108 lobe center www.drcamshafts.com . The intake system is a modified 3.2 Carrera manifold with a Ford throttle body and operating with a Clewett Engineering / Electromotive engine management www.clewett.com. The flywheel and dual disc clutch package are custom built by Kennedy Engineering to suit the Mendiola sequential MK 6 transmission. www.kennedyeng.com
