Interestingly, Porsche has also copyrighted the _shape_ of the 911. Only other example of that I can think of--though I'm sure there are many others--is the Coke bottle.
Wonder of Coca-Cola was annoyed by the fact that Richard Whitworth's invention of the area-ruled fuselage for aircraft--F106 was one of the first--was called "the Coke-bottle fuselage." Porsche would have sued if the concept had instead resulted in a "Porsche fuselage," I'm sure.
