You might check with your recycling service. Here outside of Seattle, we can put non-greasy scrap metal up to I think 2ft square in the recycling bin. Just last week I recycled a bunch of parts from an old Mitsu diesel engine we have laying around. Probably 60+ pounds of stuff.
Getting paid for it would be nice, but it usually takes a truckload of scrapmetal before I break even on gas alone.
I helped a friend cut up and recycle a 914 shell a while back... I think we got something like $6 for it.
