We hit them whenever we visit the family. Been going there for almost 30 years. A GR institution.
I've never been able to replicate one. I think duplicating the small but high quality frank is the problem. I don't think their kosher, and they've got very little snap but they're not filler-filled mush.
On the meat topping, plain bland old Hormel beanless seems to be close, but it is a little too chunky and orange. While I won't accuse Bill of pushing institutional slop, you could hit Gordon Foods for a #10 can of "chili". That might give you the right not-chile-but-"chili"-ish material to work with.
Chop your own dill relish from pickles.
Be sure to be annoyed if your guests don't follow the correct ordering routine and count up their bills in your head.
