I live on a quarter acre lot, and the narrow drive runs to the back corner where the garage is located. I race with the SCCA, and my car has little muffling, and unfortunately, must be loaded on the street into it's trailer. This fact has meant that due to last minute glitches, I miss events, because if I can't get it loaded by 9PM, it doesn't go until the next morning, which means 12 hours of getting to the track time have been lost.

It's only a minute or two of the car running just above idle, but I know it's annoying. Yet, even with my self imposed restrictions, and best attempts at keeping the noise down, the cops still show up sometimes.

What kills me is that nobody has ever complained to me about anything. The house is way nicer than when I bought it..(the previous owners didn't own a lawn mower, so i moved in in July to an unmowed that year lawn), I made sure my garage is insulated for sound and the doors are closed whenever I do work, yet still, the cops come a knocking if that car starts up.

When I moved in, I said "hello" to any neighbor I could find, and the north neighbor looked at me and walked away. nice! His daughter lives with him, and her kids as well, and the noises and fights she has with those kids have nearly caused me to call child services....
...but i don't want to be a bad neighbor, and while it's disturbing, i know it's not crossing over to the abusive side of things, so I don't.

But, I agree, come over, and let me explain what I''m doing, and we can work out a solution.

What's really annoying to me is that the guy down the street with a Harley is louder, yet nobody ever calls in about it.........
