I investigated a rental at first.
I ran this whole experience though my carrier, Allstate. My policy allows $15 a day for a rental.
I don't know if I could have rented roller blades for that
The at fault carrier, Farmer's, has been very quiet, not returning calls.
They did pay my $500 deductable after I put the pressure on them.
After leaving message after message without results, a little mention of reporting to an insurance watchdog agency got an immediate call back and the check in a few days.
I told Allstate, 'no rental'.
If I had a rental at something like $100 a day, it would have been tough to find the money to pay out of pocket and then the haggling just to get my money back.
I went the simple route. My BIL is retired and it was no inconvenience to him at all.
