I understand totally... I wouldn't want to have to cover that difference out of pocket for weeks and weeks, either.

What I don't understand is why the at fault insured's carrier isn't on the hook for an equivalent vehicle to you... immediately... and until your vehicle is repaired.

I don't know what that portion of coverage is like here in SC... but overall, it doesn't seem like the insurance industry is doing its job if the one who was hit can't get an equivalent vehicle immediately and not be on the hook and at the mercy of the insurance company's willingness to return calls, etc. for reimbursement... that's just insanity, IMO.

Does anyone see how this situation is right or fair? Is there some kind of "abuse" that this system protects the insurance industry from?

Is this system designed to make the one who is waiting for his vehicle to be repaired be the one who pesters the repair shop? Sure seems like it.

That should be the insurance company's job.
