Personally I wouldn't spend any money until I was POSITIVE what I had. Even if that meant dropping the engine. Not sure how to verify existing conditions without at least a partial dis-assembly. Others may know. On the bright side, a 2.2S MFI pump is worth some coin. Should help offset some cash output.

edit: I don't think a 2.2 MFI pump can be calibrated for a 2.4 or 2.7 application. Again, others may know for sure.
