To check rear wheel bearings, lift car, grab wheel at 9 & 3 o'clock and rock. Then at 12 & 6 o'clock. At the rear, if you hear/feel a little click click it's probably your bearing. While your milage doesn't seem excessive, and as mentioned, they do last a lifetime, their lifetime may be...well...over.
Mine sometimes made a noise like a marble whirring around in a coffee can. The E-brake usage seemed to have some effect on the noise, probably because it forced the bearing into another "set" momentarily. Drove it that way for two years until the noise became more constant. When I took it apart, the bearing came out in two pieces. Still looked pretty good, except for the two pieces part.
Pretty cheap fix I think. If I recall the bearing was $50 or so from our host. In the interest of symmetry and because I'm a big spender, I did them both (one on each side).
