I think the GT classes should be for cars with block & heads that are for sale to the public. The Porsche GT3R is for sale to the public, but I think has significant differences between its motor & that in showroom 911s.
The M3 has gone way far over the line using a V8 in a 6cyl class & the V8 isn't even for sale.
