If you think politics is ass-i-rific in the corporate sector, try academia. Nepotism, incompetence, and the Peter Principle are rampant. Add this in with a class of people with no accountability (tenured faculty), administrators that can't manage their way out of a wet paper bag, and fights over incredibly small pots of money and space. If you are at a small private liberal arts college, multiply by ten.
I believe it was Henry Kissinger that said "academic politics are vicious because so little is at stake."
